The Basics Of Learning How To Play Golf

Learning how to play golf can be very difficult to say the least. If you have always wanted to learn how to play golf yourself, the basics that I am going to cover for you here will well and truly get you on your way to becoming a real keen and developed golfer.

First of all, if you\’re planning on learning how to play golf, there are a few very important things I think any beginner needs to know before they start on the fun journey of learning how to play golf.

You should always plan ahead in your learning experience. What and how much do you currently know about golf? How much do you think you need to learn? What exactly would you like to know? What kind of learning environment suits you best? Do you have any friends or do you know anyone who has more experience than you at golf, who can teach you the basics? You should think about these questions before you begin to learn how to play golf.

If you\’re a complete beginner and you\’re not familiar with holding and swinging a club correctly, the first thing you should do is learn how to grip a club correctly and which way is best for you. You should also practice your swing a lot, so get your butt down the driving range. You can also rent clubs at your local driving range if you haven\’t any clubs of your own. This will give you a good idea of what type of clubs would be best for you too. When learning how to play golf, this can help you in many ways.

Secondly you should always get on the course as soon as possible so you can get used with the setup of a golf course and get used to hitting out of and around obstacles. You can also learn the mentality and etiquette needed on the course to be a good humble golfer, which is the main characteristic of any golfer worth their salt.

Now, when you have become more confident with what is involved in the game of golf, you can then move onto the more advanced stages of learning how to play golf. You will soon notice that your swing is a not as natural as it could be, and when compared to those more experienced around you it could seem that you\’re not in complete control of your swing and the club.

One of the biggest challengers for beginners is learning how to obtain control of the swing and the club so you can develop a smooth and natural feel, resulting in more consistent, longer shots. There are many mistakes that beginners need to overcome before they can call themselves seasoned golfers. One of the many mistakes I see with beginners is they tend to hold the club too hard. They think that it will somehow give them more distance and more control in their shots, in fact they couldn\’t be more father from the truth.

Now, golfers tend to witness a lot of mistakes when they are learning how to play golf, and they often wish they had read up on and learned a lot more about golf before they started playing. Something I would recommend would be to invest in some training books, videos, magazines, and even training aids so that you can stay away from these mistakes and develop your golf game much faster. Only fools don\’t learn by other peoples mistakes.

In Golf More Than Anything - Keep it Simple Stupid!

I was watching Annika give a golf clinic and one thing she really stressed was to keep the same golf swing regardless of what club you are hitting. If you need more distance then use a less lofted club. If you need less distance then use a more lofted club - But keep the same swing.

One of the ladies asked a very good question: \”…your swing is so effortless and I think I do the same thing but why does your ball go so much further…\” Annika\’s answer was that she hits a lot of balls every day. She practices enough to be consistent and she has her timing down so everything is working in synch. Some people are good artists, some people are good business people…but in all cases, they didn\’t get those skills without a lot of hard work.

I am an occasional golfer. I try to get out once a week but that is all dependent upon business. So the truth is that I may get out every week and a half on average during the Spring and Summer and I don\’t hit any balls in between. So the chance of me being consistent is very slim. And when the off season comes, it is 5 months of not touching a club.

When you consider what goes on in the golf swing (balance, club back, club through, swing plane, swing tempo…) it is a true wonder, at times, that there is ANY chance of consistency. And after that off season, even trying to hit the ball is an effort. When I was much younger, it was easier to adapt but at my ripe old age there are too many kinks that need to be worked out before I can even think about consistency.

Today, there is an emphasis on conditioning, not only during the off-season, but even between rounds during the golf months. The idea is to keep your body mobile and flexible and that makes a lot of good sense. If you look at the typical golf professional today, you see just about every body type out there performing at a very high level. You have the Tiger Woods and Camilo Villega that are ripped but then you have a Jeff Oglvie or Charles Howell that are tall and thin with little definition. And then look at the lady professionals that are still averaging 265 yards a drive.

It is not bulk that gets the job done. Oglivie, Howell and Davis Love III are three of the longest drivers on the tour and they are far from ripped. Annika and Natalie Gulbis are clearly in excellent condition but they are not bulked up. In fact, in talking to club professionals, you have to be very careful in weight training when it comes to golf because many exercises can actually reduce distance because you tend to tighten up. Then your swing arc can be diminished and your body turn can be restricted reducing club head speed.

It all comes back to what Annika said at the clinic: Get a consistent swing with consistent tempo and then repeat that swing every time. Let the loft of the club do its work and keep that swing simple. Focus on conditioning your body so that your body can do the same thing over and over again. Then get to know each hole on each course intimately and take good notes so that in the end all you have to think about is making that same consistent swing each time you address the ball.

6 Golfing Personalities - Which One Is You?

MR or MS HOT TEMPER

This type of golfer has a very low tolerance thresh-hold if they are not playing well. They might choose to throw their club into a water hazard, slam it down or wrap it around the nearest tree! Needless to say they lose their cool very easily and once in this frame of mind they will find it difficult to get out of it - ensuring that the following holes and probably the rest of the round will become a fulfilling prophecy of self-imposed torture.

MR or MS Hot Temper may well walk off before the round is over!

MR or MS VICTIM

The better this golfer is at \’Poor Me\’ the more attention they will get from their fellow players who may try and console them by offering comforting comments. Since this type of behaviour is based on being a victim; the problem is the worse a golfer feels about how they play, the more attention they will get and the more \’hooked\’ they will become on making sure their game of golf deteriorates.

Their negative self-talk will run riot whilst completely playing into their emotions carrying them from bad shot to bad shot. They have created a belief that they do not deserve to play well as nothing goes their way. Even when they do play a good shot their attitude is that it is a fluke and these golfers are much more comfortable when things are going badly. Phrases such as \’I knew it\’, \’Told you I would do that\’, sit very comfortably.

They are completely unaware of the phrase \’you create your own reality\’, often believing that they are victims of circumstances; the weather, noise, or a bad lie etc. They spend the whole game fulfilling the prophecy they have created that they are hard done by in life and on the golf course!

MR or MS FRIGHTENED

These are the real worriers of the game. They will have the worst first tee nerves; the constant anxiety and anticipation they have created will probably have begun as soon as they woke up and will create the mood for their entire round. At any crucial moments during play they will have a tendency to panic causing their body to tense and any sort of decent golf shot being impossible to accomplish from both a mental and physical point of view. If you ask them how they feel it will usually be verging on a mild panic attack - their stomach will feel jittery and their hands will often be clammy. Mr and Ms Frightened play golf on their nerves and will often look like a rabbit caught in headlights!

MR or MS LAZY

These are the golfers who just want to fast track to good results. They will often only practice the shots they enjoy like standing at the driving range with a bucket of balls and knocking three sheets out of every ball with their driver! They want their golf game to take very little effort and will often struggle with that all-important \’concentration factor\’ during play. They want the results, but are not willing to put the time and energy into learning the tools of their trade by practice or taking lessons with a Professional coach.

MR or MS CONTROL FREAK

This golfer has a tendency to be over-analytical. He or she will often struggle with the more intuitive side of the game. They will be unaware of how it feels to make a great shot or how it feels to be in the \’zone\’. They will be too busy analyzing exactly why a shot was good from a technical stand point. These golfers often have real issues with trusting themselves and this will often show with a complete lack of conviction in their swing or follow through.

MR or MS SENSITIVE

Golf is inextricably linked to a person\’s ego - their confidence and how they feel about themselves often matches their handicap! They absolutely dread being embarrassed on the golf course and often feel that others are watching and judging them. They will most definitely struggle with first tee nerves believing that everyone is watching them or waiting for them to fail. Ultra sensitive to any criticism or jokes at their expense they have extremely low self-esteem and will take any remark, however, light-hearted completely to heart.

In conclusion…

If you\’re a moody and irritable type of person in life then this is how you will react when things are not going well on the golf course. This does not help in creating the positive consistency of temperament required to play a good round of golf. It is important to identify some of the traits you may have created in your game of golf because it is only by being aware of what you are doing that you can change it.

Once you choose to just DO IT and master your inner mind games then consistently good golf and a more stress free life will follow.

Can Golf Training Ebooks Make The Difference?

Well I hadn\’t played a round of golf for several years when I was invited to make up a foursome one Sunday last March and I gladly accepted. I spent Saturday cleaning the dust from my clubs and making sure I had all the equipment I needed. Work and family commitments had made it difficult to find time to play my beloved game and time goes so fast. I took a driver and practiced my swing in the yard and remember thinking how I\’d not forgotten a thing..

The next morning as I stood on the first tee I felt awesome. Then I reached confidently for my driver and after a couple of practice swings I dispatched my ball neatly into trees on the right of the fairway. Eighteen holes and 122 shots later I realised I was in desperate need of some serious golf training before I accepted any further foursome invites.

My golfing buddies were sympathetic and promised me I would play better the following week and I determined myself that I most certainly would, even though I knew I\’d have little time to visit the pro for a lesson or two in the interim. Sunday evening I logged on to the Internet and searched for a good golf training ebook tutorial that may help me. Having discovered a golf training ebook reviews website I perused the tutorials on offer and decided that the first aspect of my game that needed attention was my swing. I knew I could shave a lot of shots from my score card if only I could consistently hit my tee shots long, and to the middle of the fairway.

Having read through the reviews, I settled for a golf training ebook titled \’The Simple Swing\’, by David Nevogt and I had purchased and downloaded the product within minutes. I immediately noticed that the tutorial was presented as a system, and so easy to follow and as I read through the \’golf swing\’ section of the system, I was already feeling more confident, without even picking up a club. Although concentrating mainly on tee shots, this powerful golf training ebook also includes advice to help improve putting, chipping, and sand bunkers shots, as well as the mentally and physically aspects of the game. I read the whole ebook that evening and slept well.. giving little thought to my dreadful round earlier in the day.

During the next few days I spent quite a number of hours with my golf training ebook, paying particular attention to the swing chapters and going through what I\’d learned with my driver in the back yard. I remember thinking about the title of the ebook.. \’The Simple Swing\’ what a great title.. it really is simple when you get down to it.

Thursday came around quickly and I decided it was time to hit some balls and so I put my woods in the car and after work was done I went straight to the driving range to see if what Id learned so far was going to make a difference. I teed the ball up slightly higher than usual and thinking about my swing plane I hit the ball sweetly.. long and straight. Wow that felt good! I hit 50 balls after work that evening and I swear that a high percentage of them were almost perfect. What a welcoming noise when you find the sweet spot. I had never found it so consistently in the past.

Sunday came around and I decided not to mention to my buddies about my golf training ebook purchase. Yet before we were through six holes they were making comments that I was obviously \’getting help from somwhere\’. I hit 12 perfect tee shots that Sunday and was round in 96 shots. What an improvement! I realised there were other aspects of my game that I needed to brush up on but now I was much more confident on the tee at least.

I ended up purchasing three more golf training ebooks over the next couple of months which helped me enormously with every aspect of my game. I simply tutor myself using the golf tips and techniques I learn from reading and it certainly makes the difference. With the help of my golf training ebooks I now consistently break 80. What a wonderful game golf is!

There is a big difference between general flexibility training and golf flexibility training. Just take a look at the positions the body is in during the golf swing and youll see many potential golf stretches you can come up with on your own.

The most common area a golfer should apply golf flexibility training is the backswing, impact and follow through.

You might be saying, well thats the whole swing.

Yesyou might think so, but Im talking about creating a golf flexibility training program that incorporates golf stretches specifically for those positions of the swing. As mentioned earlier, just take a look at the position your body is in at the top of your backswing; impact; and follow through into your finish.

There are your stretches!

Its not rocket science to come up with golf training programs regarding both flexibility and strength. Youve just got to use your creative side and keep the golf swing in mind when devising these golf training programs.

Are You Golf Crazy?

Play Golf Right - Get The Basics Right

Golf is a game of inches, you might have heard that term before but the theory of golf is equally important as the mechanics of the game.

Knowing about the basics is even more important while deciding upon whether to purchase the equipment, especially the golf clubs, or go for the rentals. For the beginners one little advice would not be out of place here, go for the golf clubs available on rent as they are very expensive to purchase and takes some time to getting used to.

So lets start knowing about the Golf.

Golf Course
\rFirst thing that one encounters is the golf course. A course is made up of a series of holes, each comprising of a teeing area, fairway, rough and other hazards, and the green with the pin and cup. A typical golf course consists of eighteen holes, but many have only nine.

Hole
\rHoling a ball consists of hitting a ball from a tee on the teeing box and once the ball comes to rest, striking it again and again until the ball goes into the hole. A hole is classified by its par, the number of strokes a skilled golfer should require to complete play to the hole.

Traditionally, a golf hole is either a par-three, -four or five, though some par-six holes exist, but are not usually found on golf courses.

The par of a hole is determined by the tee-to-green distance. But these distances are not absolute rules in themselves. There can be variations depending upon the prevailing rules and practices.

Handicap
\rA handicap is basically rating of an amateur golfers ability to play golf over 18 holes. The 2 main formulas used in the game are stroke play (also known as brutto or medal) and match play.\rIn the Stroke play formula an individual competes against the par of the course to determine his/her handicap.

The match play formula is a game during which two players compete with each other. In other words, your score per hole depends on the other player\’s score.

Clubs
\rGolf clubs are used to hit a golf ball. They basically fall into three broad categories namely

Woods: Earlier they used to have wooden heads, hence the name, and are used to propel the ball for long distances from a tee or fairway. They have varying degrees of loft (angle of club face relative to vertical). Now these come with titanium or composite heads.

Irons: Originally with metal heads also with varying degrees of loft.

Putter: they are used to propel the ball short distances along the ground with optimum accuracy, usually on the putting green.

While the variation of clubs can differ greatly between golfers, a set can have no more than 14 clubs and generally consists of three woods, two wedges, a putter, and eight irons (3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 irons, plus a pitching wedge.)

So far as the rules are concerned, the rules of golf are internationally standardized and are jointly governed by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews and the United States Golf Association. Golf Lessons From A Beginning Golfer?

Would a few hours with Jack Nicholas REALLY help your game? \”Just do what I do, it\’s easy!\” Or would you rather learn from a beginner, who understands the struggles, the small improvements and remembers those early changes that lead to greater success?

It almost makes sense, doesn\’t it? The best coaches are often mediocre players, and the worst coaches were stars, who had everything come easy to them. Natural ability is hard to teach to others! As a beginning golfer, I have noticed some dramatic improvements, though, and wanted to pass them along to other beginning golfers.

First, the drive. To many of us starting out, it seems to be all-important. I have had instructors tell me that if you can hit the ball 150 yards, that you can work your way down any length of hole in about 3 shots, chip on and putt in, and play bogie golf without ever hitting a John Daly type 300 yard plus drive. As beginners, all we see is the big drives, the pressure, people watching us tee off, and understandably we want to be able to pound the ball!

What I\’ve learned is that you can cut back on the swing to almost a half swing, hockey slapshot type thing, and increase the accuracy, with a small reduction in distance, until you are more comfortable with the swing. Also, a friend helped me with the description of coming \”inside-out\” with the swing. While that sounds complicated, imagine holding your back hand (I\’m a left handed golfer) tight to your body and swinging through the ball and outwards after contact - straightened out my ball flight and increased distance.

Lessons seemed to boil down to getting into the same position, and swinging smoothly and evenly making sure the club is flat at contact - try swinging at the driving range - not to hammer the ball, but try swinging with virtually NO effort, then 20% 40% 60% etc. Get comfortable with a straight line of whatever distance, and KNOW how far each club will take you. If you need 100 yards, say, it doesn\’t matter if you get that with a pitching wedge or a 5-wood, as long as you can get it accurately there!

Pitching (from under 100 yards) and putting are the majority of the strokes, the easiest area to improve your game, and if you\’ve ever played with a senior, they can be outdriven from the tee, but play so solidly from there onwards, with straight, accurate shots - you can\’t beat them!

Makes you rethink the wisdom of working on that booming drive, huh? The majority of time should be spent practicing the 100 yard and shorter shots - which inadvertently improves the overall stroke and technique, and makes the drives better over time!

Practice shooting 10, 20, 30 etc yards, and have the short chip down pat. Then work on putting - NOT trying to sink the putt, just to get the ball to within a club length of the hole - from ANYWHERE on the green. When you have mastered the ability to get the ball close like that, then work on the short 2 footers - almost from the start you\’ll find that you can get the majority in.

THAT\’s the secret - the drive doesn\’t matter, the next shot is OK, but the one that gets the ball TO the green is crucial! Then if you can putt to withing a very close area of the pin, and make THOSE easy putts - you\’re a bogie golfer - TA DAAA!

Wait, there\’s one more thing - the mental part of golf. If you have a certain ability, how come you see flashes fo greatness on some days, and flashes of needing to break your clubs on others? Same guy, same equipment, different results? THAT is the mental part of golf - and it becomes more and moe important as you master the basic strokes and techniques.

At the beginning stages of golf, you are thrown off by worrying about what others think - it feels like people are watching your drive, partners are evaluating your game, people are seeing if you can play golf well, etc. The answer to this is that everyone started off as a beginner, and VERY few people can play below 90s golf. Basically, we all suck! Take the pressure off of yourself for the first 20-50 games, and you will have the routine ingrained, the swing will be solid, all will work fairly well - under pressure or not.

Relaxation, and realizing that golf is a game against YOURSELF, are the keys. You can\’t play a real tournament against another golfer until you shoot in the 70s - so don\’t let that enter your head - try playing alone - you can - very early or very late - or with total strangers as a walk on.

Over time, you WILL get better - visibly, noticeably. Try playing a few days in a row, or a series of days either playing golf or practicing. Practice makes perfect - especially the short game that is ignored by the majority pounding shots into the darkness at driving ranges - work on the touch, the feel, the magic ability to get 25%, 50% or 75% shots, to control the distance.

Most of all, relax and enjoy the walk, the scenery, remember the things that went WELL - and move on from the ones that were duffed, hooked into the trees, or when you putted back and forth across the green like a madman - they all happen - to ALL of us - even Tiger Woods (every now and then). The trick is to concentrate on making the NEXT shot, the NEXT hole, the NEXT practice or game - be your very best. There\’s no going back and reshooting that shot that went into the water! Forget about it and calmly, confidently move on.

Your best games, your best shots will occur when you have a calm, confident feeling, feeling that you are just repeating what you\’ve practiced, and easily accomplished in the past. Look at the grin on Tiger\’s face as he sinks a putt and pumps his fist - this game can be FUN!!

Heck, you have enough paying for the kids\’ clothes and birthday presents, not to mention the school trips, without bothering about all these plane trainers and special laser equipment that they have. How about their fitness trainers: just like you get down the gym - all these weights they are showing off with and the stuff they have their garage - well, you could never afford it all!

But just think about what they are doing. Have you ever wondered what good it did them? OK, a plane trainer helps them to drive straight, but all you need do is go down the range, and they might have one there. In any case, it\’s not the driving straight that\’s important, it\’s knowing the wind, where the traps are and how to cut or fade the ball to miss them and still get length. Lifting weights doesn\’t give you that! Plane trainers have their uses but do nothing that a few buddies with a video camera can\’t help each other out with on the range.

It\’s not the fitness that\’s the problem is it? Are they fitter than you with all their fancy weights? Actually, they are not. They might be able to lift a couple of hundredweight, but how heavy is their heaviest golf club? Certainly not a couple of hundredweight. It\’s not lifting strength that matters in golf, it\’s flexibility and rotational strength.

If you use rotational strength exercises regularly, and keep your joints ad muscles flexible, then you can be fitter for golf than they can be - with no special equipment at all. When you hammer a golf ball three or four hundred yards down the fairway (I wish!) what is you body doing? You are lifting the (light) club and winding it up back round your neck, and then you are unleashing a very powerful twisting movement that ends up with your golf club back round the other side of your neck and the golf ball down the fairway.

Where\’s the strength in lifting weights anyway? It\’s not a factious question, because the strength you need for distance in golf is in the potential energy you wind up in the backswing, and that is then unleashed with your powerful swing straight through the ball, which, if done with full power, forces you to follow your swing right through till it finishes almost where it started, but on the other side of your body! How do you train for that? No by lifting fancy weights, that\’s for sure. To get fit for golf you have to train using rotational movement, and you can do that free of charge with some easy golf exercises.

The golf swing is an unnatural twisting motion involving many muscles in your body, from your toes to your neck! In order to strengthen your swing you have to strengthen each of these individual muscles in the way that they are used in your golf swing. So how do you do that? You have to swing against a resistance, just as bodybuilders build their biceps by using them against the resistance of the weights they lift. You could use a weighted golf club to do that, but that costs money, and this is about how you can do it without spending any money.

Get a large stone or heavy piece of metal you can hold in two hands that is heavier than your golf club and start swinging. Swing against weight, starting light but getting heavier and heavier, and then you will notice a difference in the speed of your swing when you use your regular golf club. The pros use weighted clubs and dumbbells - you can use a heavy hammer then try it with a light sledgehammer of you want. People do that and have great rotational strength.

When you swing a golf club you are using a large number of muscles from your neck down to your legs, and you can\’t strengthen them all with just weights. You have to swing as in golf with a heavy weight in your hands to do that. And then onto the flexibility exercise.

Hold a can of beans in each hand, put your arms straight out and then twist from side to side as far as you can go .Keep your head up and back straight. Hold it for a few seconds at each extremity. You will find that after a time you can reach farther and farther to each side. Try it standing up now and again for a change. In fact this is something you can to loosen up just before each round, but without the beans!

What you are doing is increasing your flexibility, so that when you wind up your swing on the backswing, you can get farther and farther round, and unleash all that energy stored up like a spring in a very powerful golf swing, with a follow through farther back than when you started just like the pros can do.

So, there you are. A heavy rock or iron bar and two cans of beans. Far better equipment to get yourself fit for golf than any gym full of nothing but lifting equipment. Fitness for golf is very important, but you can achieve that without any equipment at all - at least none that will cost you money.

All Time Greatest Club Breaking Events in History… and the Winner is…..

Two both famous and infamous golfers known for their tempers and club throwing exploits on the golf course, were battling head to head and coming into the final round of the tournament. The entire golfing world was looking on. As the two greats made one bad shot after another, they all too often followed them up by throwing their clubs. Some of these clubs ended up in the lake or against a tree. As they were preparing for the final round, one of them was asked whom he thought was going to lose. Thats easy, he said, the guy that runs out of clubs first.

Everyone that plays this game has been tempted to make their own entry into the club toss championship, and all too many of us have given in to that temptation. But I cant believe how many clubs I have broken by pure accident (yeah right)!

The first really expensive golf club I ever bought was a custom made driver by one of the great master club makers in Carmel, California, home of Pebble Beach. I spent a couple of days of my vacation being fitted and for three weeks waited anxiously for my new club to arrive in the mail. Man was it great! I was just pounding the ball to deepest depths of the driving range and just couldnt wait for Saturday to get here so I could unleash this beauty in real action.

Finally, the day had arrived. I was loading my gear and changing my shoes, and one of my buddies came by and asked about the new club I was bragging about. I pulled it from my bag and handed it to him to check out. I walked around my car to make the final check to see that all the doors were locked. I shouldered my bag and slammed the trunk of my car. At the time it sounded a little weird, but I was anxious to get started so I didnt bother to look.

When our names were called to the first tee, I was ready! I reached for my hot new driver; just knowing it was going to be a great day it wasnt there. My knees quivered, I had to choke back a blood-curdling scream and nearly fell to the ground in a fit of rage as I remembered that funny sound I heard when I slammed my trunk just a few minutes ago.

Then there was the time I had a shot that had to get up fast and carry a bit farther then I usually hit my 60-degree. I was under a tree but had no overhanging limbs. I could have a Tiger-like go at it. Big mistake. I wound up like I was John Daly, figuring I needed that extra long swing that only Big John can deliver, and swung with all my might. Tree root! Damn! I jarred every bone in my body. It was three holes later when I finally got my eyes back in the right sockets and discovered I had bent my steel shafted wedge. Not to worry, just a little pressure over the knee here and we can Snap! Okay, so now I have a really short-shafted wedge for really tight back swings.

But I just may hold the dubious honor of the all time greatest moment in club breaking history. I was playing head to head with my regular foursome, and we had come to the last hole and the big money was on the line. A great drive had put me in unfamiliar territory, about 20 yards closer to the 18th green than I had ever been. An even better 6-iron put me about five feet from the hole on this difficult 4 par, which I had only rarely parred and never birdied in my life. Man this was great! I was about to birdie a hole that for years had been giving me fits, and I was going to win all the money with one shot. It just doesnt get any better then this.

The other three had all finished up, and it was down to my very makeable, very easy, only slightly up-hill, straight in putt nearly a kick-in. I milked it for all it was worth. I plumbed it, stalked it, walked around it again, repaired imaginary ball marks and rubbed it in as best as I could. Finally I approached the ball dead in straight not a problem. Perfect backswing beautiful putting stroke nice follow through. It was great moving right on line! The money was mine! Fist pump in motion No! Wait! What the h!!!??? All of a sudden my ball is flying like a nine-iron shot and shoots twenty feet past the hole!! And there next to hole was the head of my putter, right where it had landed after falling off the shaft and hitting the back of my ball. Two putts later Im finally in the cup, in the dumps and out of the money. To this day my playing partners are insisting that I should have also been assessed a two stroke penalty for striking the ball twice. Ill let you look that rule up.
